Adcraft Detroit, America’s oldest and largest advertising professional organization is looking for its next Director. Adcraft is an inclusive organization committed to connecting, inspiring, educating and celebrating our diverse professional community.
As Adcraft Director, your role is critical in ensuring Adcraft’s short and long-term success in serving the many members of the diverse Detroit advertising and marketing community. The Adcraft Director manages all aspects of Adcraft operations.
Roles & Responsibilities
Operations & Administration 40%
- Ensure effective execution and organization of all day-to-day responsibilities and financial operations
- Administration of all details required for scheduling and planning events including event coordination, budgets and documentation
- Develop the annual calendar of programs & events and the annual FY budget for the organization in partnership with the Treasurer and President
- Manage, coordinate and schedule all regular monthly Executive Board and Board meetings, while supporting Committee Chairs as they schedule and lead their recurring committee meetings
- Service as the Main liaison between Eboard/Board of Directors/Members and Adcraft Staff
- Oversee and adhere to operations in accordance with the Adcraft bylaws to ensure that Adcraft meets all IRS requirements for our 501(c)6 standing, including annual filing requirements
- Oversee and support committees and event volunteers
- Oversee membership efforts, strategies, coordination & analysis
- Manage all event sponsorships and annual sponsorships
- Manage scholarship programs and coordinate awards, marketing and selection
- Oversee all Adcraft communications including website, newsletters, marketing and emails
Financial Management 20%
- Coordinate monthly P&L with third party financial services partner and Treasurer
- Manage all vendor contracts, invoicing (i.e. payroll, IT, insurance, 401K, etc.) and payment processing
- Coordinate tracking and payment of budgets, expenses, income, investments and scholarships
- Organize semi-annual audit committee meetings
Event Planning & Execution 20%
- Create and maintain shared docs with master work-back schedules, committee leads, timing, budget, sponsors, event details, etc.
- Responsible for recap reports, results and surveys following events
- Ensure successful execution of all activations and events
Leadership & Relationship Management 20%
- Represent Adcraft in a professional and inspiring way
- Lead, manage and support Adcraft Staff to optimize their workload, increase efficiency, prioritize and ensure their job satisfaction
- Organize and lead ongoing strategic planning meetings with Adcraft’s Executive Board
- Adapt, react, and lead with awareness of the ongoing Adcraft member/industry needs
- Exemplify Adcraft’s mission in all interactions, moments and communications
- Forge and develop strong relationships across all Adcraft members, leaders, sponsors and partners
- Serve as Adcraft ambassador representing our mission and our values to all members, partners, sponsors, staff, and board members
- Oversee annual growth plans for new opportunities that enrich the club and its membership
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in advertising, marketing, communications, business or related field
- Experience in non-profit work, leading operational efforts according to bylaws
- Five to fifteen years experience in advertising, related field and/or management of professional organization
- Experience with leading, supervising and growing others
- Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities
- Excellent technical capabilities including proficiency with Microsoft Office & Google suite, and other tools used for creating efficiency & organization including AI and newly emerging products
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A proven ability to form trusted business relationships across levels and functions
- Ideal candidates will be both doers and visionaries with an uncanny ability to manage the day-to-day details of a job, while also being passionate about what’s possible
- Values the importance of inclusion and growth
- Leadership skills that engage the best of all team members and excite those working around you towards the Adcraft mission
- Sound judgement being able to anticipate questions, challenges and opportunities
- Design and web development experience a plus
- Current Adcraft membership preferred
Reports to: Adcraft President
Working Hours: This is a full-time, exempt position and, at times, requires over 40 hour work weeks and flexibility in working hours, including some evenings and early morning work to accommodate events and other important meetings.
Compensation & Benefits
Adcraft Detroit offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The base salary range for this position will be between $85,000 – 90,000 annually. Final compensation is determined based on skills and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including options to participate in 401(k), a generous paid time off program and 14 annual paid holidays.
